Marissa Pyron is a classical soprano from Houston, Texas. She recently graduated from The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts with academic and vocal honors. Currently, she is studying voice at Southern Methodist University under Professor Virginia Dupuy.
Marissa was recently part of the Houston Grand Opera High School Voice Studio, where she studied under Dr. Jason Lester, and won First Place in the spring recital. She has also sung in the ensembles of several musicals at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, including The Drowsy Chaperone and The Pajama Game. In addition, she performed in the school’s highest choral ensemble, the HSPVA Madrigals, under the instruction of Dr. Richard Robbins.
Marissa has performed at TMEA three years in a row, earning First Chair in Soprano 2 in the Mixed Choir. She has participated in several local and national vocal competitions recently, earning First Place in NATS Houston, First Place in the Regional Classical Singer Competition, and was a Semifinalist in the National Classical Singer Competition. She was also a member of the Choral Scholars at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Marissa also plays piano and guitar. She is a singer-songwriter, and recently recorded some of her songs. She hopes to pursue this aspect further. After graduating, she hopes to continue studying voice and eventually sing opera.
Marissa loves animals (especially dogs), enjoys browsing buzzfeed (especially dog pictures), loves Italian food, and enjoys spending time with her wonderful friends and family.
